2018 sees the continuation of our regular LEAF Leaders forums.

The next opportunity the meet up will be on Thursday 22nd March when Dr. David Landrum: Director of Advocacy for the Evangelical Alliance is our guest speaker. This will be a SPECIAL Morning and Lunch-time meeting from 10 'till 2:00 pm.

With society changing at an alarming rate across the United Kingdom, and with marriage, relationships and sexual ethics being hot news topics; we have asked Dr. Landrum to come and share with us about today's changing society, current and upcoming public policy issues and our Christian responses to them.

This will be an excellent opportunity for senior and youth pastors, church leaders and Christian counsellors to attend to find out more.

The Evangelical Alliance:

The EA is the largest organisation in the United Kingdom which represents over two million evangelical Christians throughout the country. For over 170 years the EA have been bringing Christians together and helping them listen to, and be heard by, the government, media and society. The alliance believe the church is the key to long-lasting change in our country - and that by working closely together, we can transform our communities with the good news of Jesus. Over those 170 years, the EA has lobbied parliament on behalf of evangelical Christians across the country – a united voice of advocacy ensuring Christians are heard on issues that matter deeply. They've helped tackle past issues of slavery, poor working conditions and threats to our religious liberty, plus they have been the evangelical voice supporting traditional marriage and opposing the redefinition of marriage. They continue to this day to be advocates within society at large for the evangelical church.

David Landrum:

Dr Landrum outside Number 10 Downing StreetLiverpudlian Dr Landrum, heads up the advocacy team from the EA's London office. He has responsibility for giving evangelicals a voice in politics, to government and in the culture; and he can often be found meeting MP's and national leaders sharing the evangelical view and keeping his finger on the political pulse. He is well-respected in parliament where his passion is to see Christianity making an impact on society by being at the centre of our political, cultural and economic life. He has a first-class degree in 'contemporary politics' and 'urban policy studies' and a doctorate in 'politics' and 'policy process in education'. He says of his work:

"My role involves helping the voice of evangelicals to be represented to government, parliament and in politics and the media generally. This involves lobbying on a range of issues of concern for evangelicals, submitting to government consultations, participating in key debates, briefing politicians, meeting with civil servants and other officials. It also involves liaising with the broader Christian community and those of other religions on issues affecting freedom of religion and belief."

Dr. Landrum brings the voice of experience to the table to insure that pastors, church leaders and Christian counsellors have the most up-to-date information, both from a legal and biblical stand point, plus the resources to help navigate these deep waters. He says:

"It is encouraging that evangelical leaders are seeking to come together to discuss the pressing issues of the day such as sexuality and identity – both of which have the potential for profound challenges to religious freedom in the UK. In this context it is vital that church leaders are informed of the nature of the socio-cultural challenges posed on a policy level in order to respond both biblically and pastorally."
