The Apostle Paul said:   “ I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone ..” (1 Tim.2:1)  And “ And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests….,  be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints..” (Eph 6:18) 

Prayer  is God’s idea!  It’s not something we’ve invented out of our own need. It’s part of His plan for our lives, and He wants to hear our prayers. Jesus said: “When you pray…”,  not if.

Prayer can be a delight – it can also be hard work.

You’ve probably noticed that when you decide to have a time of prayer all kinds of things come up that call for your attention.    But as we take time, and respond to the Lord stirring our hearts and drawing us to Himself, the Holy Spirit will break in and help us.   Then the ‘eyes of our heart’ will be opened to see Him, and know Him, and we will be moved to pray about the things that are on His heart.

So, be encouraged, and keep on praying – on all occasions with all kinds of prayers.

Prayer Canopy

There are many ways to pray and many aids to prayer;  within LEAF we provide a bi-monthly PRAYER FOCUS as part of Prayer Canopy.   The Prayer Canopy aims to provide a continuous canopy of prayer over the New Forest area.   It has been set up in the firm belief that as God’s people unite together to pray the spiritual climate of the New Forest will change, pushing back the powers of darkness and bringing an openness to the gospel, an increase of God’s blessing on our churches, and greater effectiveness in mission.

How can I be involved?

You get involved by committing yourself to pray for an hour per week for the area.   How and when you do it is your choice.   Our commitment is not intended to be a legalistic burden but a joyful privilege and responsibility.   There is tremendous power and authority as we pray to the Father with a united heart.
